Project Update
The Stupa project was initiated two years ago at the completion of the Fire Temple project.
During the visit of Most Venerable Tenga Rinpoche at TNG Centre in June 2007, Lama Norbu Repa requested Rinpoche some advice on a suitable emplacement for the construction of Stupas.
Last summer, Lama Norbu Repa went personally to Derge in Sichuan to collect special mantras and mandals form the Pallpung monastery in Kham, Eastern Tibet. These special scripts will be inserted in each stupas. During the fall seminar, Lama Norbu invited the participants to take part in the construction of the foundations for the stupas. This was the time of the preliminary ceremonies , the blessing of the land and the offerings to the local deities. The official launching of the project was done by a fire offering ritual to the main Yiam, Dorje Phagmo, marking also the end of a six months retreat done on site by Karma Lekshey.
This year, the project was continued and by now the foundations and the bases to receive the eight stupas have been completed together with the landscaping of the area and the construction of a circuambulation pathway.
In June 2009, Lama Norbu met with His Holiness Karmapa and with His Eminence Gyaltsab Rinpoche requesting their Blessings for the project as well as to provide him with Precious Relics to be included in the Stupas. He also went to Sherab Ling to seek support and requested Lama Tsewang Drakpa, the General Secretary to His Eminence Tai Situpa to provide for the ''Srog-Shing'' to be included in each stupa.
Not less than 64 prayer wheels have been ordered in Nepal. They constitue an important feature of the site and will grace the bases of the stupas and the circuambulation pathway.
A brochure is currently being printed and will be soon distributed to assist the fundraising needed to complete this beneficial and meritorius project. Please consider taking part and organize some fundraising event, thus giving the connection to your friends to gather merit too!
This summer, the individual structures will be built and the mantra rolls, tsas-tsas, mandalas and precious vases will be patiently prepared to fill the stupas upon completion of the construction. A long task, which will involve several hundreds of hours of benevolent work to be taking place over the coming year.
Everyone is welcome to take part in this worthwhile project!
